Baby Shower

I was given a wonderful baby shower by these special ladies above this past Saturday. Baby Grant received so many wonderful things! I can't wait to dress him up in all of the cute outfits he got and put him in his vibrating infant seat. Collin and I are so appreciative of everyone who came to support me. Many of ya'll drove many a mile to come. The food was great! Petits fours, fruit tarts, pumpkin bread, and finger sandwiches!! Yummy!! Grant has so many friends to meet when he gets here!!
I can't believe we have less than 8 weeks left till his due date!! The time has flown by! I am so glad that we have the holidays to kinda distract us a little as we grind out the last of this pregnancy. Finding a comfortable sleeping position is getting harder and harder. It is also a bummer not being able to paint your toenails!! Socks do the trick to cover that up!! We are planning on painting the nursery this coming weekend and hopefully finding some furniture for it also this week.
We have 2 more Monday night classes to go for our childbirth education class. It has been really informative and eye-opening at the same time. It really makes everything real!! Interestingly enough, we started the class with 5 couples and as of last Monday we were down to 3!! One couple went into preterm labor and we don't know what happened of them. This past Monday another couple went into labor and had their baby early that morning. So we will see tomorrow night who is left!! They are dropping like flys!!

Weekend Projects

We put our nursery rocker together this weekend. Or should I say Collin put the rocker together. I love it!! It actually reclines!!
Collin studying the directions
The finished product. The cushions are a butter yellow and the wood is a real dark brown. Espresso maybe??
Collin practicing rocking Grant but with a "baby" fish.
I planted 8 amaryllis bulbs on Sunday. I even found one that will bloom pink to plant!! Hopefully I have my planting timing down and they will be blooming the week of Christmas!!

It was really cold on Saturday night so we started our first fire of the season. Does 40 degrees outside qualify for cold enough to start a fire?? Haha!! We thought so!! The smell put me in the mood to start decorating for Christmas. But I will hold out till after Thanksgiving for that.

We have a name....

We have decided on a name and it is time to announce that we will call our newest addition....

Andrew Grant Sharp

We will call him Grant

He will be here before we know it!! I have decided that he will definitely be an athlete with all the kicking and moving around he does. He puts on a nightly show about 8:30 each evening!! We call it the Grant show. Very entertaining!!

Here are two recent pics. My dad's side of the family had a fall fest get together at the end of October. They had a baby shower for me during that time.

It's a Boy!!

We had our "big" ultrasound on Thursday and there is no doubt that it is a boy!! He was very active and busy in there. I have felt lots of movement and kicks, but nothing equal to what he was doing on the screen!! He weighs about 1 lb, 1 oz. All of his anatomy looked fine and we are about 1 week ahead with measurements. So the due date is Jan. 30th, give or take a week. Both grandmothers were there and were super excited to see the newest addition. After the ultrasound we headed to Target with the grandparents and bought our first blue baby clothes.

Collin's parents were here for the weekend and helped us put up a shelving system in the nursery closet. The blue paint really made it stand out. We will paint the rest of the room later on.

And of course, my computer is acting up again so I am not sure if the pics will publish. I think I have a stupid virus. Will post pics later.

It's a Boy!!

Savannah Pictures

So I finally got blogger to work so I could publish some pics from our August trip to Savannah.
We toured this house and apparently it is haunted . This sign was in the basement and no, we did not find any ghostly guests on our camera. Thank goodness!! Scary!!
Collin and I in front of our bed and breakfast, The Eliza Thompson House. No ghostly guests sighted here either.

The Lady and Sons, Paula Deen's restaurant. People were lined up at 9 am to make reservations for the day.

Have you ever touched something dated 1825?? This was a tombstone in the very old Colonial Park cemetery.

Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, built in 1873. Too bad photography was not allowed inside. Beautiful!!

Collin with "Paula" inside the Paula Deen store. She was awfully quiet and shy!! haha

I asked her for some secret recipes but her lips were sealed!!

Baby, Georgia Trip

Well, I 've been a bad blogger lately, but here are a few happenings in our life.
The big news is that on Sept. 18th we find out whether to buy blue or pink paint for the nursery!! We can't wait!! It feels like it has taken an eternity to be almost 20 weeks and be able to schedule the "big" ultrasound. I have also started to feel some flutters from the baby moving around. And there is no doubt that I am pregnant...I am beginning to show!

Two weeks ago Collin and I went to Atlanta for a wedding of one of his good friends. Collin had a good time catching up with his old buds from Georgia, playing some golf, and staying up way too late for us old folks!! On Sunday, after the wedding was over, we took a short trip to Savannah. Neither one of us had been there before and it is a place that I wanted to "check off the list" as having visited. It is as beautiful as it looks in the postcards and on TV. Lots of moss dripping off the trees and blocks and blocks of old, historical homes. We stayed in one of them which was transformed into a bed and breakfast in the historic district part of the city (The Eliza Thompson House: http://www.elizathompsonhouse.com.) The first day we were there we lined up at 9am to get on the reservation list at The Lady and Sons, Paula Deens restaurant!! Eating at Paula's was a MUST on the to do list. We then took a trolley ride through the city that hit all the highlights of the history in the city. We then went back to a couple of the stops that were of real interest to us so we could spend more time at them. We saw Forsythe Park (the famous fountain), a really old cemetery, The Mercer House, two old churches, one Catholic and one which was the first African American built church (it was also a stop on the Underground Railroad), and we toured a haunted historic home which had entertained Gen. Robert E. Lee. We topped the day off with dinner at The Lady and Sons. I had her southern buffet and Collin tried the peach salsa grouper. The tastiest dish was the fried green tomatoes!! Delish!! Although we got a pic with the fake Paula Deen, the real Paula Deen did not make an appearance that night. We left VERY full and very tired after a really long day of trying to see all the sights of Savannah. We headed back for Big D the next day after having a wonderful time on our "Babymoon."

Note: my computer is acting funny so I am not able to add pics at this time. I will work on it some more after I publish this post.

Thanks Allison!

I got the cutest thing in the mail today. My first onesie!! It is for a baby 6-9 months so it is hard to believe that the baby won't even fit in it at first!! My dear friend in Houston, Allison, sent it to me. Allison has 3 under 4 so I hope she will have lots of advice for me.
We still have about a month to go until we find out if it is a boy or girl. Collin seems to think it is a boy and I have no clue. All I know is that it will be nice to know who has been pinching the nerves in my back!! I haven't felt any kicks yet, but I can just imagine the baby pinching them. Ouch!!
Collin now reports that when he hugs me he can feel my belly between us. That was a first this past weekend!

Second Trimester

I have finally made it into the second trimester of my pregnancy!! I began the 13th week on Friday the 25th. I feel blessed that I have made it this far without any morning sickness, just fatigue and the need to pee all the time!! We still have about 2 more months to go till we find out what we are having. Time has passed by fast so I am sure that Jan. 30th will be here before we know it!!

We are Pregnant!!

Well, time to end the speculation. Yes, it's true, we are pregnant!! I am 10 weeks and the due date is January 30th. We had our first ultrasound on this past Wednesday and everything looked great. The baby is about 1 inch long and the heartbeat was 176 bpm. The baby looked sorta like a gummi bear on the screen and even did a little wiggle dance for our entertainment!! We thank the Lord for this little one and look forward to this adventure!!

Weekend Roundup

"Kids, don't try this at home!!"

Hello all!! I know it has been awhile since the last post, but we've been busy, tired, ect., ect. What a fun weekend we had. We flew out to Indianapolis on Thursday to visit Collin's family. His parents live there as well as one of his sisters and her husband. We got to see lots of Collin's cousins, great aunts and uncles and caught up with them. We also had a good ol' time on a two seater bike. It was a hoot to watch two people try to be coordinated together on this bike. It is harder than it looks!! Steve and Cheryl took top prize!! You can tell by her "anybody can do this" expression above that it was no problem. Collin and Clay look a little tense and frightened on the thing!

On Friday night I was having a hard time falling asleep so I woke Collin up to see if he would talk to me to help me fall asleep. Initially, I didn't know he was so sound asleep but I realized it when he looked at me and asked me if I played baseball!! Literally, he said "Do you play baseball?" It's like that's all he could think up to start some conversation. We both started cracking up!! I think we woke up everyone in the house. So we have an inside joke now where we'll ask each other it they play baseball. God bless him!

Hope you had a great weekend!!

Celebrity Sighting!!

So Collin and I were at Mi Cocina last night on our usual, predictable Friday night date when we both saw someone who made us do a double take. As we were being seated, we passed by Jason Whitten who was having dinner with his family!! I immediately recognized him, but Collin later admitted that he was actually too busy looking at the cute baby that he was holding instead of realizing that it was Whitten!! Oh goodness!!

Weekend Roundup

Collin and I had a great long Memorial day weekend! We got to spend a lot of quality time together and finished some small projects around the house.

My first order of business was to figure out a way to stop those pesky birds from eating my tomatoes. They are starting to turn red and of course the birds love them. First they attacked my strawberries and now that they are done producing, the birds have moved on to the tomato plants!! I covered the plants with some plastic mesh stuff so we will see how that goes. We also hung two pics in the dining room. Count that a success as they are hanging straight and C and I didn't fight the whole time we were measuring to hang them.

We also made a trip to go see the new Indiana Jones movie. Not as good as the originals and scary to me as there were green, big-eyed aliens in it!! (Many a nightmare I had as a child with these in my dreams!!)

Overall, it was a relaxing weekend. Hope you had a great one!!

Isn't he cute??

Here is a pic of my sweet husband from this weekend. He purchased these dorky headphones so that his loud movie watching on early Saturday mornings won't wake me up while I am sleeping in.
Thanks hubby!!
Now if I can only get those dogs in the neighbor's yard to quit waking me up early too!!

Weekend Roundup

We had a great weekend here in married land. We had our usual Friday night date, you know, Costco, Mi Cocina, and Central Market. On Saturday I met my mom and dad in Canton for some excellent flea market shopping. A tornado couldn't stop us!! I bought an old red bucket that has a handle, a small antique fan to go next to my big fan, a white milk glass bowl, and 2 matching pieces of art work to put in the dining room. I just can't convince Collin to come with me anymore. He says that there is only junk in Canton. Can you imagine!! The nerve!! Can't wait till next time!

Meredith joined us later for dinner. We enjoyed hearing about her adventures in Uptown. How sad is it that I was asleep by 9 and she was just leaving to go out!! Depressing!!

Before we knew it, it was Sunday. After church we ate at Babe's in Roanoke.....mmmm. Hadn't been there before, it was delicious!! Definitely a once every six months type of meal. They only serve fried chicken or chicken fried steak. Yikes!! I was not disappointed with my choice of chicken fried steak. I feel it sticking to my thighs!!

Hope you had a great weekend!!

First Harvest!!!

So I harvested my first strawberries today from the garden. I am pretty proud of them!! My mom and I first planted these two years ago and the plants have lasted through two winters. In fact, the plant has multiplied into 4 or 5 different plants. Mmmm....just wish I had some chocolate to dip these babies in!!

On another gardening note, this plant was given to me by a co-worker two years ago and it is the most aggressive plant ever!!! I call it a purple bean plant, but I am not really sure if that is right or not. It is a vine with pretty purple flowers that will grow up anything it can get its' dirty little leaves on!! I think this is the year that it finally takes over Collin's grill on the porch. Yikes! Well, this year I literally have to pull up 4-5 plants per day that have come up overnight in places that I don't want them to grow. Note the ones I have already picked on the right side of the pic (white lines)and no, that is not a huge black snack going down the pic, it is Collin's soaker hose). They are taking over the side of the porch!!

Pirate Ship

So here is a pic of the pirate ship my dad built. This pic is from the back; it looks more "piraty" from the front. It has a slide, 2 swings, rock climbing wall, sand box below, and of course a steering wheel with an old cell phone my dad had. You know, the old bag phones. And every pirate ship has a cell phone, right? Why he saved this from when I was a kid, I don't know. I guess for the future pirate ship. Ha!

Weekend Roundup Part Dos

I finally have some time tonight to catch ya'll up on our fun weekend in Longview.

Friday: After a pleasant drive through the highways and byways of East Texas, we arrived at Pump it Up for Peyton's party. We hardly recognized him with his new "big boy" haircut...a flat top!!! I don't know how those kids didn't bump heads all the time while jumping. It is amazing at the energy they had!! Most of them, including Collin, were sweaty little pigs by the time we were ready to cut the cake!! I can't believe my nephew is 4!!

Saturday: We slept in and woke up to the smell of my grandmother's biscuits and gravy..mmmm. We always look forward to this as I have yet to perfect this recipe. That afternoon we headed to the lake lot for Peyton's 2nd party in 2 days. This was his pirate party( note the pirate hats we wore...not sure how I "lost" mine). My parents made Peyton a pirate ship playground set at the back of the lot near the water that is unbelievable. My dad designed and constructed this especially for P. I teased him that the set builders from "Pirates of the Caribbean" would be calling him for advice!! It really was amazing. I enjoyed using my fairly new camera and capturing lots of pics of the birthday boy. We had a grilled hot dogs and more cake. It was very relaxing being out there. I can't wait till they finish building their house out there!!!

Sunday: We finished off the weekend by attending church with my parents and getting to hear their new pastor. For lunch we had my favorite, Bodacious!!! The best Texas bbq out there!! Collin thinks that it is very good for Texas bbq, however claims that "real" bbq is pork style like they serve in TN. I say yucky!! After some more playing and "wrasling" with P we headed back home. Was a great weekend, but as always was too short!!

p.s. Sorry some of my pics are sideways. I have not mastered that bloggin skill yet!!

Weekend Roundup

We had a great weekend!! We spent it in Longview celebrating my nephew Peyton's 4th birthday party. Lots of food, fun, and parties. More details to come this week as I am just too pooped to type anymore. I took a TON of pics and can't wait to share a few. Here are two pics from the weekend for starters. Hope everyone had a good weekend!!

Idol Review

So I think that Brooke is going tonight. Kristi L. Cook is last year's Sanjaya-everyone is voting for her even though we all know that she will never sell a record. The whole time David Cooke was singing last night I could hear MC's version in the back of my head. But overall, he did a good job. I think it will come down to the young little kid who looks like a younger Fred Savage and David Cooke.

I got to shop today for my nephew's fourth birthday party which is this weekend in Longview!! I can't believe that he is already four!! How time flies. The toy aisle is so overstimulating for me! There are so many colors, sounds, and stinky kids running around. And the choices!! Who thinks up all this stuff?? Someone who thinks that a piece of plastic that will last 1 month is worth $20, that's who!! Any-who, I am really looking forward to the "jumping" party and seeing my favorite nephew. Here is a pic of him. It is a sleeping angel!! This pic is a couple of months old. But don't fret, there will be plenty of pics to be shared after this weekend.
Another fun story to share from today...My favorite little lady at work is doing so much better. For those who don't know Mrs. W, she is a resident where I work and I have decided that she and I are kindred spirits. She had been suffering from one of her usual quarterly UTIs (urinary tract infection) so she hadn't been the same. She will usually tell me stories from her past which she hadn't done in a while. Well, today she started telling me those stories (which she thinks she is telling me for the first time, but is the 100th time :) ) again. I listened gladly as I had missed our "talks." And once again I had to remind her that she is not 132, but that she is 95!! Oh she makes me smile. :)

Weekend Roundup

Collin and I had a nice relaxing weekend, but too short as always!! It started off with our usual date night on Friday. You know, Costco, Lowe's, Central Market, and our favorite Mexican restaurant Mi Cocina. We decided to eat early so we ate with all of the old people!! We were pleased to have spent less than $100 as Costco. That rarely happens!!

We slept in Saturday morning as we had both had some late nights last week. Collin spent more time in the yard in the afternoon. He washed the truck, mowed the weeds, tried to fix a hand-me-down edger, and watered the yard. Our flowers and garden are coming along nicely, except for some pesky petunias that are trying to die. I will probably have to take Lowe's up on their one year plant guarantee and take them back...we will see if they perk up. I've decided that Collin is great at all the digging and lawn mowing and I excel in bringing out refreshments!!

We met some dear friends of ours for dinner later that night. Mikalah and Jarrod met us in Addison at Blue Fish. Everyone chowed down on the sushi except me. I prefer my fish to be flaky and hot. Sushi is just cold and wet in my opinion. Collin commented that their sushi was almost as good as the sushi he had in Maui in January. We got home really late that night and were proud of our selves for staying up past midnight!!

Sunday was pretty uneventful. Collin watched "The Wire" episodes and I enjoyed a much needed facial at the spa. Collin's sister, Meredith, joined us for dinner and finished getting the rest of her stuff out of the room she stayed in when she was living with us. She said that dinner was the first home cooked meal she had had in a long time. Cooking is a faux pas in the single life you know!! She seemed to really enjoy it and took some for the road. It was good to see her. I think she is really adjusting well to living in Dallas.

I'm Lovin It!

5 Things that Collin is Lovin

1. Doing four hours of back breaking yard work
2. Washing a truck inside and out that I didn't even get dirty
3. Almost cut finger half off putting blade on edger
4. Running away from a wasp trying to sting me
5. Saying every word in the book trying to get my stupid water hose untangled
-Collin

New Blog

Well, I guess it is time to catch up with the rest on the world and begin a blog. Not really sure who will read our blog but thought it might be fun. I feel hip now!! I am hoping this will be a good way to journal Collin and I's life adventures. I am new to this whole blogging thing so bear with me. Blog on!!!!
