Fun swimming pics from Indy

Indiana Visit

Grant being welcomed to Indiana
Collin with his siblings, Sarah, Meredith and Clay
Grant loved watching his uncle Clay play guitar for him! His uncle is very talented!!

Sleeping on his Gigi
Swimming with Dad
We got back yesterday from Indiana to visit Collin's family and to go to one of his cousins wedding. Grant did really well on the plane...he either slept, ate, or "talked" to a passenger behind our seats. Traveling with a baby is sooo difficult!! We had soooo much to carry around in the airport...diaper bag, stroller, car seat, car seat base, 2 rolling suitcases (one of them was broken on the trip out there so Collin had to CARRY it!!), purse and a backpack!! Talk about nuts!! It took us FOREVER to go through security!! You know how you have to take your shoes off to be x-rayed going through security (thank you, Mr. shoe bomber), well, Grant had to take his off too!!! What mom would put a bomb in her baby's shoes??!! Anyway, we had a great time...lots of food, family and swimming. Grant loved spending time with his grandparents!!

What we've been up to....

Sleeping in our new favorite spot of the crib. I CANNOT keep him off of his tummy at night!!
Trying on a new hat... but then deciding we don't like it.

Reading (i.e.eating) a book.

Grabbing our toes.

At the pool

Grant really enjoys going to the pool at night with us. We haven't put him in yet but that will come soon. The water just feels a little too chilly still for these worried first time parents!! I picked up some swim diapers and they are so cute!! He really enjoys just sitting there and watching kids play in the pool. Can't wait to put him in!!

Dinner with the Albrechts

Thanks for dinner the other night, Ken and Judy!! Please don't let our son's behavior deter you from inviting us over again!! :)

5 months

1 month
2 months

4 months
5 months
I know this is about a week late, but better late than never!! Grant is now 5 months!! And of course, it has flown by!! (I could not find a 3 month pic to post above. I have WAY too many pics on my computer!!)

Grant at 5 months:

  • Weight: 16 1/2 lbs
  • Height:26 1/2 inches
  • Still sleeps 8-10 hours at night
  • Usually takes a 1 hour morning nap and then cat naps the rest of the day
  • Is already wearing 9 month clothing!!
  • Has learned to roll from back to stomach, but gets stuck there b/c he can't roll back to his back. After being on his stomach for a while he will get upset and start fussing. Two nights last week I heard him on the monitor just mad as a hornet b/c he had rolled over on his tummy and could not get back over. No fun for mom and dad when it is 4 am!!
  • Laughs out loud or squeals like a girl when mom or dad do something funny!
  • Has a ball in his door jumper and bouncer. This is so funny to watch!
  • Continues to look like dad, but is definitely a Mommy's boy so far.
  • His hair hasn't changed much from last month, but his eyes are starting to look blueish-greenish.
  • Eats every 3-4 hours
  • Has started rice cereal, about 1-2 tbl at a time, but hasn't mastered to art of swallowing it yet. In the speech pathology world we would say that he has "poor A-P propulsion with tongue thrust present." His doctor said that the rice cereal is for our entertainment mainly...he gets all the nutrition and hydration he needs from me. We'll keep trying till he gets more interested.
  • No signs of any teeth yet.
  • Puts anything he can get his hands on in his mouth.
  • Likes to reach out for whatever mom is putting in her mouth.
  • Made his first trip to the church nursery last weekend. He did really well and did not cry when we left him...I'm sure that will come eventually!
  • He has discovered that he can make a couple of different sounds with his voice this month. He also sucks on his bottom lip and blows "raspberries." It's like he has discovered he has a mouth. So cute!
  • Is much more observant this month. He will follow me with his eyes when I leave the room.
  • Still loves his bath!! He soaks the bathroom counter with all his splashing.
  • Has found himself in the mirror and likes to laugh at himself.
  • Is the joy of our lives!!

Take me out to the ballgame....

The guys and their babies.

Here are some pics from Collin's softball game last Thursday. This team is made up of friends from our"old" Prestonwood Sunday school class. Collin has played with these guys for about 4 years. It was Grant's first time to make the trek down to Plano to watch his dad play. Can't say that Grant even watched his dad at all...we were too busy chatting with the other moms and watching our baby friends!! Sorry dad!!

Baby Dedication

We had baby dedication day at church two weekends ago. Grant did great!! He didn't fuss or even let out a squeal. My parents came up to spend that special time with us. We made a group picture of all of us but I guess we took that with my mom's camera so I don't have it.
