Nap time

Here is what I see when I the little stinker wakes up from his nap.At first, just a little peep over the top. See that little sweet head?
Then I can see some eyeballs.
There he is!! He looks like he is still half asleep!
"Mom, pick me up!!"
Thank you, baby Grant, for a good nap today!!

Cute pic of the day

Aren't I precious?

A Sharp Visit

Collin's parents and younger brother ,Clay, drove down last Friday from Indianapolis for a visit. They were also here to move Clay to Austin. He is going to be involved with starting a church down there and will be helping out with their music. I think the church launches sometime in September. We are so excited to have another Sharp here in Texas!! As you know, Collin's youngest sister, Meredith, is also here in Dallas. Now we just have to convince his oldest sister, Sarah and her husband Colin (yes, we have 2 Collins in the fam...my Collin spells his with 2 Ls and Sarah's Colin spells his with 1 L. Got it??) and Collin's mom and dad, Steve and Cheryl, to move here!! We are working on them!! Grant is pretty convincing! We had a great time last weekend with them. We ate lots of good food and played a lot of cards. Grant enjoyed all the attention and even reached out for his DaddyG for him to hold him!
Walking down to the pond to feed the ducksClay was super excited about the ducks!! :)
I made Meredith a sack lunch on Monday morning. Can you see here name on the sack? Meredith and I also have the same middle name, Deann. Wow, 2 Collins and 2 Deanns!!

Proud Grandparents!!!

Swimming!

We have really enjoyed our community pool this summer! Grant seems to really like to the water. We call him our little guppy fish. He looks so cute in his swimsuit!! We usually go at night, 8 ish, so we don't have to worry about sunscreen and sun.

6 Month Pictures

Happy 1/2 a year Birthday, baby Grant!!
Showing off our rolling skills...and our sitting skills.

But we have not yet mastered sitting as you can see above. I caught him mid face plant!

Wow! This month I was able to prop him up on Mr. Snail. Trust me, me hand was right there as I knew he wouldn't stay for long!!
On a sad note, Mr. Snail was made by Grant's great-grandfather, Poppa, who is not doing very well as I write this. He made a Mr. Snail a couple of years ago for each of the grandkids for them to use with their children. I will send him a photo of Grant conquering Mr. Snail. He also made me the cradle that I used when during Grant's first month. I placed it next to my bed so Grant would be close to me at night. Not sure if I posted a pic of that but I'll see if I can find one.

6 Months!

Grant is 6 months!! Well, and a couple of weeks as I am late again with this month's post.

Grant at 6 months:
  • Weight: 17.2 lbs 50th percentile
  • Height: 27 in 75th percentile We have a long baby! The nurse who measured him said "you just keep unrolling, don't you!"
  • Wears mostly 9 month clothing
  • Still hasn't mastered solid foods yet. Continues to just want mom. If we put a baby food in his mouth like rice cereal, sweet potato or carrots he usually just spit it back out and makes a face like, "what the heck is this stuff!!??"
  • Can sit up for a couple of seconds with assistance from us.
  • Is rolling, but tends to favor rolling to his left side. He also will stick his heiney up in the air by straightening his legs out underneath him.
  • Sleeps 10-12 hours at night. We are blessed!
  • Has started to get on a schedule with naps. Usually a two hour nap in the morning and a 1-2 hour nap in the late afternoon.
  • No signs of any teeth yet!!! But he does love to chew and suck on anything he can get his hands on.
  • Grabs his feet, not sucking on them yet though.
  • Reaches for me when someone else is holding him. I love it!
  • Is in size 3 diapers. I was so sad to move from Swaddlers to Cruisers!! Moms, you know what I mean!!
  • Loves to go to the pool! It is really calming and entertaining for him. He's a people watcher!!
  • Loves to grab at our faces.
  • Is really entertained when I put him in the Bumbo next to the kitchen sink while I do dishes.
  • Looks like we have a green eyed boy. Collin and I both have green. One day his hair seems light and the next day it seems dark. I think it is starting to thicken up a bit too!
  • Loves to watch other kids play around him. Yea for playdates!
  • Had his first plane ride and boat ride.
  • Vocab: ooooo's ahhhhh's and mmmmmm's. Loves blowing raspberries to me on the changing table.
  • He loves to get our attention by fake sneezing or fake coughing.
  • Loves the door jumper and we do too!!! It is the funniest thing ever to see him so proud of himself for all the high jumping he's doing!

I'll post pics later!

We're Tough!

My words didn't post with the previous post, so here they are.

Grant had been to the doctor that day for his 6 month check up and had found the band-aids that were where he got his shots. He pulled all 3 band-aids off and didn't even flinch!! He even tried to eat them after that!! I predict this child will try to take his own stitches out one day! You can see the band-aid in his left hand if you look closely.

Playdate!

Grant and I had our monthly playdate yesterday. Here we are just before we left. We all met at Sara's house in Plano and had girly food while the babies played. Grant is the youngest there and he really enjoyed watching all the little kids play around him. He would just laugh at them as they walked or ran by...so cute!

Connor, 1 year
Aren't they cute??
Evie, 15 months
She was the perfect little hostess! Look how they are holding hands...precious!
Chillin' in the baby pool full of balls! Look how his left arm is leaning on the back of the pool!
When we got home he found my cookbook that I left in the floor. It is the Neely's cookbook from Food Network. He just about ripped Pat Neely there out of the book! I think he wanted that cupcake on the page! Yummy!

Fixing the coffee table

Grant rolled under the coffee table this weekend while we were at my grandmother's house. You can see how proud he is to be under there!! He rolled about 10 times in a row that night! For now he only knows how to roll to his left side.

4th of July Fun!

We spent 4th of July with my parents in Longview. They have a lake lot on Lake Gladewater, so we met them out there and went out on their party barge to swim a little before the fireworks that night. Grant really enjoyed being out on the lake, he just didn't like the baby life jacket that he was forced to wear!! But, as you can see it must have not been that bad because he fell asleep in it!

Which one of us is whiter?? haha

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling

Yes, we have started to roll around the room now! Usually about 3-4 rolls at a time. Above you can see how he rolled over to get into the office desk. I put him down in one spot, look away, then look back and he is in a different spot! Growing up!
This cracks me up! Grant's legs aren't long enough to bend over the edge of the umbrella stroller yet so they just stick straight out. So funny!

Weddings poop us out!!

Playing in the pool

This is Collin and his 2nd cousin, Ben, during the wedding ceremony. Ben has a little girl who is 2 months younger than Grant. Grant loved watching her and making noises at her. Luckily, it was an outdoor wedding and they were sitting off to the side of where the ceremony was taking place so he didn't interrupt the wedding.
