Where did the time go??!! I can’t believe you are already three!! Seems like yesterday you were a tiny baby and now you are such a big boy!!

Here I am at around 37 weeks. I was 38 weeks and one day when she was born. My water broke at midnight and she was born 2 hours later. Talk about a fast labor!

Grant brought me flowers when he came up to the hospital to meet his new sister.

Sooooo glad to be home with my little girl!

Grant loves his little sister! He showers her with kisses and loves to hold her!

We are soooo thankful for EllaJane and that she healthy and perfect! It was a rough pregnancy but of course I look at her little face and realize it was so worth it! She is precious and brings our family so much joy! Thank you, Lord, for EllaJane!

I will be 36 weeks on this coming Tuesday!! My mom came in town again to help me get ready this past week. She made the crib bedding and I just love it! She did a great job! I told her to open a store on Etsy!! I still have some finishing touches to complete in the nursery, but I feel like it is getting very close to being finished.

My first baby! Can’t believe how fast it went with Grant! Seems like yesterday that this was his crib! Before I know it, this little one inside of me will be as big as Grant!

We finally came to the conclusion that he is imitating what the winner of the weekly Nascar race does when they get to victory lane! Grant loves watching Nascar with Collin and knows lots and lots of drivers names just by looking at the car that they drive.

In July we made the trek to Galveston for my family’s annual beach trip. Grant had a wonderful time and loved playing on the beach!

All that playing in the water wore him out! Wish I could have said that everyday we were there…this was the only day he took a nap for us! He must have been just too excited to be there!

One of his favorite things to do was to come back from the beach, strip down and wash all the sand off! Must be a little boy thing!

Grant’s MDO had an end of the year program and he was the star of the show! Collin’s parents and two sisters were able to come so he went all out and put on a show for them.

After, the program we headed over to the downtown square for some ice cream! We love to go over there and play on the courthouse grounds after we eat our ice cream.

Ft Worth Zoo

We took Grant to the Ft Worth Zoo last Friday. He really enjoyed the animals, even though he wasn’t too sure about some of them. Gorillas, monkeys who were close to the window and some of the animatronic dinosaurs seemed to make him a little nervous. It wasn’t too hot, but we definitely couldn’t wait much longer into the summer to go.

The train ride that took us back to the front was the best part of the zoo for the pregnant momma!

We haven't left the house since Monday.

Did I mention we have not left the house since Monday??!!!!

Yes, we have been iced/snowed in since Monday!!

We had an ice storm on Tuesday morning which left us trapped at home and then to top it off we got 6 inches of snow on Friday. WE ARE getting out of the house later today. The ice and snow is melting and we feel safe to leave now. I’m sure all of Denton county is also headed out today so I’m praying that there will be some groceries left to buy on the shelves! The snow was pretty but we are glad to see it go. As rough as it was not to leave, Collin and I have enjoyed spending lots of time with Grant! I am trying to ignore that they are predicting ANOTHER round of snow/ice for this coming Wednesday! I can’t imagine anything worse than what we got this week!

We had Christmas with Collin’s family later in the week after Christmas. Grant is always the center of attention at Sharp gatherings as he is the only grandchild right now. We can’t wait for more cousins!!

Lots of pics to share!! I am going to break Christmas down into a couple of posts.

First up, Christmas with my family. We traveled to Longview on the 23rd and came home in the evening on Christmas day. Grant had a great time playing with his only cousin, Peyton and really enjoyed watching and studying all that he did. He loved all of his Santa toys but took some time warming up on his new toddler 4-wheeler riding toy. Of course now he is a pro at it and can even steer it! He is a real wild child going a max of 1 mph down the street!

These pics crack me up! Left: Grant fell asleep at the table during Christmas lunch. He has never done that before so I was glad to be able to witness that along with my family. Right: After he was good asleep, we put him in Poppa’s lap and they napped in the chair for about an hour and a half.

We took Grant this past weekend to see the train exhibit at Northpark mall and loved it! It is amazing to see all the miniature scenes and how the trains go through them.

We also took Grant to see a puppet show with a Grinch-like character. Grant was excited for the show to start as seen below in the two top pics.

But then the puppet came out and you can see Grant wanted nothing to do with the show anymore.

Christmas program

Grant had his first Christmas program today! He did really well, no crying, he loved it!

His class waved their stars to “Twinkle Twinkle, Special Star.” My son was the best waver up there!!! He even started dancing in his seat a little bit to the song!

You can tell these two above pics that he takes his star waving very seriously! :)

Way to go Grant! You did such a great job today! I hope this Christmas season will be the start of beginning to realize the reason for the season!

How they don’t crash into each other, I don’t know!! It was really amazing to watch! Grant enjoyed them and luckily, he forgot about his ear protection and stopped trying to pull them off!! The jet engines were really, really loud!! We want to go back next year and get a reserved seat so we can see all the planes better up close!

Grant really enjoyed watching the road pavers in Southlake on Friday . You can see Collin and him sitting on the bench watching.

On the way home from Southlake, we saw that the cows in the pasture next to our neighborhood were close to the fence so we stopped and watched for a while.

On Sunday, we took Grant to Pumpkin Express here in Argyle to see a pumpkin farm. He really enjoyed the train and playing on the pumpkins.

Here are some pics from our first day of MDO this year.

We have a cowboy nap mat and a cowboy backpack. Grant loves to carry both of them himself, but usually falls down with them because they are heavy!

This is when I dropped him off. You can tell here that he is very worried about the situation!! He can already sense that I am going to be leaving him here!

He had a great first day of school! He is one of the older ones in his class and one of the few that didn’t cry all day. He even slept an hour and fifteen minutes that first day!! On the nap mat!!! Wow!! I know it is going to be a great year for him!!

In mid July, we met my family in Galveston for a week at the beach. My parents rented a beach house on the west end of Galveston. We were so excited because it was Grant’s first time to see the ocean.

As you can see, he had a great time!

Here are his first steps on the sand. The minute I put him down on the sand he stopped in his tracks and looked up at me like, “What is this I’m stepping on!!??”

Here is Collin pretending he caught the fish!! I’m sure he was snoozing while my dad was fighting this monster!! The guys would get up around 5 to fish every morning! Collin did go fishing all but one morning, but he didn’t catch anything that was big enough to keep.

Daddy prepared the ribs to smoke while I stirred the cupcakes. I lost it when Mom had to take the bowl from me!! I promised I wouldn’t make too much of a mess!!

I helped decorate the cupcakes with red sprinkles. I sported another new onesie with the stars and stripes on it. Not sure what Mom was thinking when she put me in all white!!

Moving Day

If you didn’t know already, Collin’s parents moved here from Indiana back in March and this past week, they finally moved into their house. They lived in The Colony for about 3 months while they were looking for a house. They found a home in Corinth. They are an easy 10-15 minute drive from us and we are soooo excited to have them nearby!

They have a pool!!!

Collin and I went to St Croix in the beginning of June for some much needed R&R. We left the little guy at home with the Grandma’s and he did just fine. I think we missed him more than he missed us! Ha! We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed having a few “baby free” days together!!

Collin found his old match box cars while cleaning out the garage the other day and you know who found them. We got them cleaned up for Grant and they have been a hit ever since. We headed out to the Ft Worth zoo to show Grant all of God’s creatures in person. We went after lunch and were relieved to see all the school kids loading up on the buses to leave as we were coming in! I think Grant’s favorite was the penguins. The would just swim right up to the glass where he was standing and look back at him. We were thrilled to see that he could really point out the different animals that he saw. I was afraid that he wouldn’t notice them unless they were really moving, but he spent the whole time with his pointer finger out pointing at the different animals he could see.

The weather has been so nice the last couple of days and Grant has really enjoyed being able to go outside to play. He loves to walk up and down the street and seems to always end up in the middle of the street to walk!! We will have to start “street safety” talks soon! Grant has been at the door today wanting to go outside, but it’s raining here. I think the weather will be better this week so we will head back out!

The Blizzard of 2010

It started to snow early Thursday morning and had not stopped when we went to bed Thursday night. I am pretty sure we have had at least 10 inches!! This is the most snow we have ever seen in one day. Grant has been sick so he didn’t get to enjoy very much. I’m sure he will enjoy it more when he is bigger anyway. I brought some snow in and let him play with it in his highchair and he seemed to enjoy that. Collin’s snowman (see pic above) was impressive until it toppled over. Not to mention the fact that he just about threw his back out building it!! ha! Grant enjoyed watching him build it from the front window. The snow has been fun, but we are getting pretty stir crazy and look forward to getting out tomorrow!

On Thursday, we celebrated our four year anniversary!! Wow, I truly can’t believe it has been four years!! It’ll be five before we know it!! How things can change in a matter of years…..

Big Bathtub

We finally moved from the baby bathtub to the big bathtub a couple of weeks ago. Grant really enjoys it and loves to stand up and hang on the side. Nothing like the smell of a clean baby!!

11 Months

Wow!! How did we already get to 11 months!! In just a few short weeks my baby will be one!!

Grant at 11 months:

21.4 lbs
Can walk with us holding his two hands out in front of him. He just started this a couple of days ago. He is walking along the furniture and will sometimes let go and stand alone. He loves to cruise around the house with his baby walker…he is getting fast at it!! He always has the biggest smile when he does it and makes a sound like he is saying “yea!!”
Is a speed crawler!
Has two teeth now, both on the bottom front
Will wave bye bye. He does this at the most random times, like crawling down the hallway.
We took our first out of town trip without Grant. Collin had a business trip to Vegas and I decided to tag along and get some much needed R&R! We were gone 3 nights and Grant was well taken care of by BOTH grandmas! He did great! No problem with taking a bottle and resumed nursing when I got back!
Is eating just about anything we put on his tray. Seems to love meat the best. When he sees me or Collin at the table with food, he will crawl over to us, pull up on our legs and “beg” for us to share.
We finally graduated from the infant tub and started putting him in the big bathtub and he seems to really like it. He has even survived one slip already!
This child has NO set napping and/or bedtime schedule!! He pretty much takes a morning nap around 11:00 am every morning, but you never know if he is going to bless his mommy with an afternoon nap too. As far as bedtime goes, usually down around 9-10:00 but for the past two months has been waking once in the middle of the night to eat. Before that he would always sleep through the night. Growing boy, teething??? Who knows!!
Is still in size 3 diapers and wearing 9, 12 and 18 months clothing.
Loves to open/close doors and cabinets. We had to baby proof the kitchen cabinets about a month ago.
Will “dance” to music by bouncing up and down to the beat. So cute!
Is becoming a little chatterbox: dadada, mamama, bababa, the /n/ sound and sometimes the /g/ sound
Loves his dad! When Collin is home in the office I can hardly keep Grant from crawling up to the office to see his dad. And sometimes he will sit at the front door and I swear it’s like he is waiting for Collin to get home.
